Just had our dryer vents cleaned and was very impressed with the service from start to finish.

The crew was very professional and not only cleaned the vents but fixed some deficiencies as well. We’ve also had our gutters cleaned and experienced the same great service.

Thanks to PMG Maintenance for doing such a great job! Scheduling was fast and price was very reasonable.

- Mr. MacDonald, Stittsville

Excellent service.

Was having a problem with the dryer due to an accumulation of lint in the dryer vent.

Came the same day as we called.

Arrived when they said they would even though it was probably past their normal working hours.

Were courteous and professional.

Thank you!

- L. Morrison

Signs that suggest a dryer vent needs to be cleaned.

  • Air flow.

-Air flow is reduced.

-The flaps on the outside vent do not open when the dryer is working because they are stuck.

  • Lint build-up.

-Lint can be seen building up at the outside vent exit and in or around the filter.

  • Drying time.

-The dryer stops frequently before it reaches the end of its cycle.

-It takes longer to dry, more than 30 to 40 minutes for example.

  • Dryer overheating.

-The dryer overheats because of the lint build-up.

-The clothes are hotter than usual or they're not completely dry when the cycle finishes (thick clothing, towels, jeans, etc).

-The air in the laundry room is damp or too hot or there is a burning smell.

-There is a strong scent of softener sheets while the dryer is working.

  • Frequency of cleanings.

-If the last cleaning dates more than a year or two.

If dryer vent is not cleaned.

  • Fire hazard.
According to the U.S. Fire Administration's National Fire Data Center, clothes dryers are responsible for approximately 15,600 house fires around the country each year. Eighty percent of these fires start with blocked dryer vents, and result in 15 deaths and 400 injuries on average annually. Thousands of other home occupants are treated for symptoms of poisonous gas fumes that back up into the home due to blocked dryer vents.
Statistics for Canada are not available.

  • Increasing cost of operation.

-Higher cost of energy bills. The dryer is one of the appliances using the most power in the home.

-Decrease in efficiency and life expectancy of the dryer.
-Cost of repairs due to lack of maintenance may be high.

Advantages of preventive maintenance.

Save money by having your dryer vent cleaned regularly: repay the investment in a professional service with the savings in energy bills and repairs!

  • Increase the efficiency of your appliance.

-When the dryer vent is clean, your appliance works to full efficiency. Drying time is reduced as well as energy cost, especially if you must restart the dryer to finish drying the load.

  • Increased lifespan of your dryer.

  • Protect your clothes from excessive heat.

  • Have peace of mind.

-Hiring a professional dryer vent cleaning service will ensure the job is done efficiently, neatly and safely.

This is how we do it!

On a standard installation:

-Upon arrival, we will start the dryer and measure the air flow exiting the vent from outside.

-We will take a picture of the inside of your duct before maintenance.

-We will look at the general condition of your installation.

-We disconnect the dryer and pull it out of its place to access the exhaust.

-With our specialized equipment, we will clean: the whole duct, inside the dryer exhaust, the lint filter, the filter area, surfaces behind the dryer and the outside register.

-We will reconnect and reposition the dryer.

-A second picture of the inside of the duct is taken once cleaned.

-The air flow is measured once more for comparison.

How to limit lint build-up.

Cleaning the filter before or after each load is necessary, but is only the beginning. Fibers and small particles from your clothing by-pass the filter and create lint build-up inside the dryer and the vent.

  • Some materials should not go in the dryer (plastic, rubber, foam, etc).
-Make sure to empty pockets from clothing.

  • Use a liquid softener in the washer rather than softener sheets in the dryer. Residue from the sheets can block dryer filters and leave oily residue and chemicals which may be flammable in the dryer.

  • Lighter loads.

-Use the dryer for lighter loads, it should take 30 to 40 minutes to dry. This permits adequate air flow and reduces lint build-up. By drying too many clothes at once, the dryer must work much harder to do its job and it may take twice as long.

-When possible, hang blankets, pillows or other large items to dry.
